Southside Deadly 5’s a success for First Nations Sports Program and the South Cairns Community

A broad-based community partnership driven through Aspire Community and delivered by a collaboration of partners and supporters led by Our Future Mentors have successfully delivered the first Deadly 5’s Sports events at Todd Park Bentley Park South Cairns on Tuesday 15 April 2025. Incorporating traditional games of Edor with mainstream modified football (soccer) and 3x3 basketball, engagement targeted the more vulnerable and supported accessible and affordable opportunities to participate and engage. First Nations businesses and organisations were supported and feedback from over 100 people attending provided overwhelming support that this is something the community wants and needs.
